Tina Knowles has shared details about having a secret affair with her cheating husband after their separation in a new memoir.
Following their split due to his infidelity, Tina Knowles briefly reconciled with Matthew Knowles, revealing the reasons behind her decision in the book.
Despite filing for divorce in 2009 upon learning of his affair and love child with a mistress, Tina was persuaded by Matthew to give their marriage another chance.
“He’d changed after new counselling,” she recalled in her new tell-all memoir, Matriarch.
“I didn’t believe him, but he was persistent, proved he’d gotten help, and as he courted me, I found myself falling in love again. The magnetic pull between us, this cosmic cord I had tried to cut so many times, was stronger than ever.”
The pair kept their reunion hidden from daughters Beyoncé, 43 and Solange, 38 because, Tina Knowles admitted, she and Matthew “knew the kids would be so mad at us if they found out we were together again”.
But, she said, their “bond seemed stronger because we were sneaking”.
However, when he fathered a child with a second mistress in 2010, Tina decided to end the marriage for good.
“I clearly knew my relationship with Mathew was unhealthy, and it was the fear of going it alone that kept me stuck,” she wrote.
Their divorce was finalised in 2011.
