Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has dismissed as false a circulating online statement about a supposed White House invitation to President Bola Tinubu.

The statement, which was allegedly from the State House, claimed that President Tinubu turned down an invitation from the U.S. government, citing urgent domestic matters as his reason.

Labelled as fake by the Presidency, the statement falsely suggested that Tinubu declined the U.S. invite due to local priorities.

In response, Onanuga, whose name was falsely linked to the statement, condemned it via his X handle on Sunday. He attributed the post to agents of disinformation and fake news, warning that the individual behind the fabrication would eventually face the law.
