The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has debunked claims that he plans to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirming his full commitment to the ruling party.
Ganduje’s reaction follows a recent statement by former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, who suggested that the APC was on the verge of collapse and that many of its members, including Ganduje, would soon return to the PDP.
In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Ganduje dismissed the speculation as unfounded and politically motivated. He went further to suggest that Lamido himself might eventually join the APC.
“There is nothing that would make me return to the PDP,” Ganduje said. “The APC is strong, growing, and attracting more support as we approach the 2027 general elections.”
The APC chairman also projected a bleak future for the PDP, predicting that the party may not survive beyond 2025 due to persistent internal crises.
Ganduje praised the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, saying it has played a key role in strengthening and uniting the APC. He also reiterated his pride in leading what he described as “the biggest political party in Nigeria and the West African region.”
“My focus is on maintaining party unity and ensuring the APC delivers on its promises to Nigerians,” he stated.
Ganduje advised Lamido to concentrate on resolving issues within the PDP rather than spreading false narratives about the APC.
“The APC remains steady, focused, and fully prepared to face future elections with renewed strength,” he concluded.
