The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has acknowledged that there were errors in the conduct of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made the disclosure during a press briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday.
“What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors,” Oloyede stated.
He noted that despite efforts to ensure a smooth process, some issues still occurred. “We set all machineries in order, regardless, there were still errors,” he admitted.
This admission comes amid a wave of complaints from candidates reporting inconsistencies in their UTME scores.
The development follows widespread concerns over poor performances in the just-concluded exam, prompting further scrutiny of the process.
JAMB had earlier assured the public that any identified glitches would be addressed swiftly through appropriate remedial measures.
Statistics from the 2025 UTME indicate that 78 percent of candidates scored below 200 out of the total 400 marks.
