Veteran actor and renowned voice-over artist Segun Arinze has been re-elected as the President of the Association of Voice-Over Artistes (AVOA) Nigeria, reaffirming the trust and confidence placed in him by industry colleagues.
Arinze, who first assumed leadership of AVOA in 2021, expressed heartfelt gratitude to members following the announcement of his victory. In a message shared with the association, he promised to build upon the progress achieved in his first term and continue advancing the voice-over industry in Nigeria.
“I look forward to an eventful four years ahead,” he wrote. “Promising to take AVOA to greater heights… opening future doors of opportunities for our young members so they can reach their God-given potentials.”
He also emphasized unity, urging members to actively participate in shaping the future of the industry rather than “sitting on the fence.”
Notable Achievements in His First Term
During his initial tenure, Segun Arinze earned wide acclaim for his commitment to capacity building and for promoting local talents. One of his hallmark achievements was the successful launch of AVOA VOICEFEST, a flagship industry event that brought voice professionals together for training, networking, and collaboration.
Arinze also took a bold stance in advocating for Nigerian voice talents, pushing back against the overuse of foreign voices in local productions and championing fair opportunities for indigenous professionals.
What to Expect in His Second Term
As Arinze begins his second term, expectations are high for continued progress. In his message, he promised the unveiling of a blueprint that will guide AVOA’s future initiatives, with specific focus on:
-
Mentorship programs between veteran and emerging talents
-
Industry regulation and advocacy
-
More training festivals and workshops
-
Improved welfare policies for members
His re-election was confirmed in a statement signed by AVOA’s Chief of Staff, Victoria Atodo, further cementing Arinze’s leadership role as a unifying and visionary figure in Nigeria’s growing voice-over landscape.
