Shakira unexpectedly called off her concert scheduled for 29 May at Boston’s Fenway Park, which was part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour.
In the days leading up to the event, the Hips Don’t Lie star had posted on her Instagram Story, sharing her excitement and hinting at surprise appearances by Will.i.am and Wyclef Jean.
However, just a few hours before the concert was set to begin, ticketing company Live Nation announced its cancellation.
The concert featuring Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn, also scheduled to take place at Fenway Park on Friday, was likewise called off.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances originally scheduled for 29 May and 30 May respectively at Fenway Park have been cancelled,” the Live Nation statement read.
“Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
Fenway Concerts also shared the same message via social media.
As reported by Boston’s 7News, sources suggested that both shows were cancelled following an inspection by the City. The inspectional services department is said to have identified a safety issue while reviewing the stage setup.
Shakira’s next performance is scheduled for Saturday night in Washington, D.C. Her tour will continue across North America before reaching Mexico in August.
