Victoria Justice has opened up about receiving online “death threats” during her time as a former Disney star.
In a recent interview on Mythical Kitchen’s YouTube series My Last Meal, the Victorious alum spoke candidly about “a time… where I felt like people hated me.”

“There was a time for so long on the Internet where I felt like people hated me,” the 32-year-old actress told host Josh Scherer. “It was a thing. It (the internet) can really be a ruthless place and, like, mob mentality is such a real thing.”
Victoria Justice explained that the backlash began after an old video from her teenage years resurfaced and went viral when she was already in her twenties.
The clip showed her and her Victorious castmates discussing how Ariana Grande often sang on set, to which Victoria responded, “I think we all sing.”
“The media outlet that put it out, put this whole spin on it,” she recalled.
“It must have been a really slow news day for them because I swear to God, I… suddenly got all this hate and I’m like, What did I do!?”
She said the situation escalated to the point where she feared for her safety, and her mother was deeply alarmed by the wave of online negativity.
“I got so much hate,” Victoria Justice said. “I got death threats.”
