Minister of Works, David Umahi, has openly declared that after God, his unwavering loyalty lies with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that he takes instructions from no one else.
Umahi made this known on Monday in Abakaliki, while addressing journalists. The statement comes in response to President Tinubu’s recent public commendation of Umahi’s impressive strides in infrastructure development.
“I have told the President even publicly that my loyalty is to God first and then, him,” Umahi said.
The former governor of Ebonyi State described the President’s commendation as being “worth more than one trillion dollars,” stating it affirmed that he was on the right track and that“God answers prayers.”
According to Umahi, Tinubu’s trust in him is sacred — and any betrayal of such trust would invite divine wrath.
“When someone places the kind of trust in you that Tinubu has placed in me, it would be completely wrong and even devilish to betray that trust,” he added.
Recalling the President’s level of confidence, Umahi referenced his handling of a ₦1.6 trillion project, noting:
“Have you seen where a man presided over the procurement of a project worth ₦1.6 trillion and his boss did not call him to ask how he went about it?”
The minister went further to invoke prayer in his mission:
Ipray every day that if I ever put myself, my family, or friends above God, Tinubu, and the Nigerian people, may God not answer my prayers.”
Umahi also pledged continued prayers for Tinubu, those who support him, and those who believe in his vision, revealing that President Tinubu is expected to commission around 30 major projects by December 20.
“Contractors will be under pressure to complete around 30 major projects,” Umahi stated, noting that he remains actively involved in the construction and inspection of works across all six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
The minister’s passionate speech underscores his firm alignment with the President’s agenda and his deep commitment to national development
