Air India Dreamliner Escapes Disaster Days After Deadly Crash in Ahmedabad

An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner narrowly avoided a potential disaster on Monday, June 16, 2025, when its crew made an emergency return to Hong Kong International Airport shortly after takeoff en route to New Delhi.

This close call comes just days after another tragic incident involving an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner that crashed in Ahmedabad, claiming the lives of 241 passengers.

According to reports, the Hong Kong-Delhi flight crew detected a suspected technical issue during initial ascent and immediately informed air traffic control of their decision to abort the journey and return as a precautionary measure.

“The pilots decided not to risk continuing the flight and requested to return to Hong Kong to ensure passenger safety,” an airline official stated.

The exact cause of the technical fault remains under investigation by aviation authorities. Maintenance teams and safety inspectors are currently examining the aircraft to determine the nature and seriousness of the issue.
