Mayorkun Credits Davido for Sony Music Africa Deal: “He Facilitated It”
Popular Nigerian singer Mayorkun has cleared the air on his relationship with Davido, revealing that the Afrobeats superstar played a key role in securing his current deal with Sony Music Africa.
Mayorkun, who rose to fame after being signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2016, parted ways with the label in 2021 — a move that stirred speculation about a potential fallout between the two artists.
However, during a recent interview with 3Music TV, the “Certified Loner” crooner set the record straight by giving Davido full credit for his transition to a major label.
“Aside from having my label, right now I am also with Sony Africa. Shout out to Davido for that as well, he facilitated the deal,” he said.
The statement not only dismisses rumors of bad blood between the duo but also highlights Davido’s continued support for his former signee, even after their professional split.
Mayorkun is now signed to Sony Music West Africa while running his own imprint, further cementing his growth as an independent artist.
