Veteran actor and filmmaker Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, is marking 60 remarkable years in the Nigerian film industry. His son, renowned actor and producer Femi Adebayo, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on Monday, praising his father’s enduring impact on Nollywood.
In celebration of this milestone, Oga Bello is set to release a new film titled “Her Excellency”, which he directed and produced. The film will premiere exclusively on June 29, with nationwide cinema screenings starting July 4, 2025.
Femi wrote, “Today, I stand with immense pride… as I celebrate my father — my mentor, my hero — Adebayo Salami, as he marks 60 years of unwavering excellence in filmmaking.” He described the upcoming film as a true reflection of his father’s artistry and passion.
Adebayo Salami’s legendary career began in 1964 with the Young Concert Party, evolving into the famed Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group after the death of its founder, Ojo Ladipo. He made history starring in the 1976 classic Ajani Ogun, a film credited with pioneering the Yoruba movie genre.
Salami’s influence spans decades and generations, not just through his body of work but also through his children, including Femi Adebayo, known for blockbuster hits like King of Thieves and Jagun Jagun.
Femi concluded his tribute by urging fans: “Let’s make history together and troop into cinemas from July 4th.”
