Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged to keep President Bola Tinubu’s critics in perpetual discomfort by rolling out more infrastructure projects under the current administration.
Wike made the bold remark on Wednesday during the commissioning of Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way), connecting Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), alongside other road projects in the Katampe district of Abuja, with President Tinubu in attendance.
According to the minister, he recently came to the realization—after watching television—that many opponents of President Tinubu are displeased with the administration’s visible progress, particularly in the FCT.
“Sometimes, I don’t know, spiritually I was touched. I was just touched to turn it (TV) on, and I was watching, and I didn’t realise that people could be in pain, but now I know that such people are in pain,” Wike said.
He then vowed to intensify development efforts in a way that would, in his words, “give them high blood pressure.”
“I now must make sure I continue to give them high blood pressure. As they continue to be in pain, it’ll be sweetening us, and that’s now my job.
“I’ll be happy, moving around, and laughing every time, and they’ll be there shouting, fighting, and killing themselves. So, Mr President, thank you for being part of this revolution.”
Wike’s statement underscores his combative political style and unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu’s agenda, as well as his determination to make the FCT a showcase of visible transformation amid political criticism.
