INEC Rejects Registration of All Democratic Alliance, gives reason

INEC announces nationwide continuous voter registration to commence in 2025

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the proposed political party, All Democratic Alliance (ADA), cannot be registered at this time due to failure to meet the necessary prerequisites.

INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, made this known while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Olumekun, although the commission has received numerous letters of intent from various political groups, none has fulfilled the requirements needed to move forward to formal registration.

“The truth is that we have so many letters of intent presently and none of them is an application yet. They must first meet the criteria before submitting a letter of intent,” he clarified.

Sources also revealed a procedural blunder in ADA’s submission—the omission of the word “electoral” in their address to the INEC Chairman—a detail seen as critical in formal political correspondences.

The Commission emphasized that only groups that strictly adhere to constitutional and legal guidelines would be considered for registration as political parties.
