Joycelyn Savage, the fiancée of embattled R&B singer R. Kelly, has publicly refuted her family’s claims that she is being held against her will or manipulated by the convicted star.
In a video statement released on Sunday, June 22, Joycelyn firmly addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding her relationship with the singer:
“I am not held against my will. I am not a sex slave. I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me.”
She disclosed that she and R. Kelly have been together for 10 years and have been engaged for the last three years, adding that they plan to get married and start a family once he completes his prison term.
Joycelyn’s response comes after her family publicly withdrew support for R. Kelly’s bid for a presidential pardon, citing concerns that their daughter remains under his control and influence. However, Joycelyn rejected these claims as false and misleading.
“I’ve cut communication with my family by choice, not because anyone is controlling me,” she stated. “I just don’t want to talk to them.”
She concluded by asking the public to pray for R. Kelly, expressing hope that the singer will soon regain his freedom.
R. Kelly’s Legal Woes Continue
R. Kelly remains in federal custody, serving sentences for multiple convictions, including racketeering, sex trafficking, child pornography, and enticing minors for sex. Last week, reports surfaced that the singer was the alleged target of an assassination plot in prison, which allegedly resulted in a brief hospitalization.
As of this report, Joycelyn Savage’s family, through their attorney Gerald Griggs, has not issued an official response to her video statement.
