Film marketer Kazim Adeoti, popularly known as Adekaz, has opened up about the moment he knew actress Mercy Aigbe was special — and it wasn’t about beauty or fame, but a rare display of honesty.
In a candid chat with Oyinmomo, Kazim recalled their first professional interaction back in 2011 on the set of Hajia Jemila. What started as a working relationship laid the foundation for the strong partnership they now share.
“What I really admire about her is her honesty and straightforwardness; it’s something I truly respect,” Kazim said. “After I paid her for the film, she came back to tell me there was leftover money. I was shocked — no one had ever done that.”
At the time, industry peers had warned him about working with women in such close business settings, but Mercy changed his perception completely.
“She wasn’t just professional — she was beautiful, honest, and carried herself with integrity. I never took the money back, and from there, our work together only grew stronger,” he added.
That pivotal moment, Kazim explained, led to a lasting collaboration that eventually evolved into marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2022, a move that drew public scrutiny due to Kazim’s existing marriage to Funsho Adeoti. Despite the backlash, the couple have remained united and focused on their shared goals.
Mercy Aigbe has also spoken publicly about their bond, stating that their shared vision and industry experience make them a powerful team.
“One of the reasons I married him is that we’re both in the same industry. He understands what I do, and we are building an empire together,” she previously told journalists.
Their joint film project, Ada Omo Daddy (2023), was a box office success, solidifying their synergy both professionally and personally. Distributed under Adekaz Productions, the movie showcased Mercy’s skills as both producer and actress.
Aside from her acting career, Mercy also owns Mag Divas, a successful fashion brand. She has reiterated that her financial independence predates her marriage, clarifying that their relationship is built on love, trust, and mutual respect.
In 2025, Mercy added another feather to her cap by winning Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for her role in Farmer’s Bride, further proving her star power and resilience in Nollywood.
Their story is one of mutual admiration, business acumen, and a shared passion for entertainment — a partnership built on more than love, but on trust and vision.
