Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has vowed a harsh response against Israel, declaring that the Islamic Republic would show “no mercy” towards its leadership.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Khamenei said:
“We must give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist regime. We will show the Zionists no mercy.”
His warning comes in the wake of Israel’s recent bombing campaign, which targeted Iranian nuclear sites, military installations, and residential zones—an operation Tehran labeled as unprecedented aggression.
In retaliation, Iran reportedly launched waves of missiles and drones toward Israeli targets. Iranian officials also claimed on Wednesday that hypersonic missiles had been fired at Israel, escalating fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
The situation further intensified after former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a provocative statement, calling for Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and suggesting the U.S. could “easily assassinate Khamenei” if necessary.
International observers warn that the rising hostility between Iran and Israel, coupled with inflammatory rhetoric from global leaders, risks pushing the region towards a wider and more dangerous confrontation.
