Legendary Nollywood actor Fatai Adekunle Adetayo, popularly known as Lalude, has publicly expressed his disappointment with fellow actress Sola Sobowale, accusing her of disrespect during a recent event.
Speaking on the program Behind the Fame: African A-List, Lalude recounted how Sobowale allegedly ignored him at Olayemi Olayinka’s show, despite being aware of his presence.
“She did something that pained me one day. I was at Olayemi Olayinka’s show and I heard Sola Sobowale was there. She knew I was around also, but didn’t bother to come say hi. She’s not even older than me,” he said.
Lalude, who is revered for his long-standing contributions to Yoruba theatre and traditional roles in Nollywood, expressed his surprise, especially considering their history.
“Back then, when we were doing Uncle Jide Kosoko’s play Ogun Awoyaya at the National Theatre, Ngozi brought her to me and introduced her. She was just trying to join acting at the time,” he recalled.
Despite Sobowale’s current success and global acclaim — especially following her role in King of Boys — Lalude suggested that fame should not excuse what he viewed as a lack of humility.
“Regardless of her living abroad, she’s not truly wealthy. We were there with Yinka, and she went to the stage and left without seeing me. That’s the only thing that pained me.”
The veteran actor’s comments have sparked a wave of reactions online, with some fans calling for reconciliation while others criticized Sobowale for perceived pride or social climbing.
As of now, Sola Sobowale has not publicly responded to the claims.
