Nigerian singer Euphemia Ekumah, popularly known as GoodGirl LA, has opened up about her personal struggles, revealing that she was called a “failure” by her parents while battling depression.
In a candid series of posts shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the “Bless Me” crooner reflected on a dark period in her life marked by isolation, emotional challenges, and betrayal from those close to her.
“I had periods of unavoidable isolation and just shit, so I charged it,” she wrote. “I focused on self-mastery and transmutation, all the while saying no to certain opportunities that nggas would kill for because I stand for something.”
The singer emphasized that despite being offered enticing deals during that period, she turned them down because they didn’t align with her values.
“I know what I want and where I’m going, and I won’t sell my soul just to belong and keep up appearances. Nggas called me crazy lol but I am—I’m a f*cking genius,” she declared.
GoodGirl LA went on to describe how people around her, including close friends and even her parents, lost faith in her.
“In that period, my ‘friends’ started to look down on me and pretty much just shenked me. Bruh, even my own parents did too and called me a failure,” she revealed.
She said the experience shifted her perspective on life, teaching her to focus on what truly matters—her art and her purpose.
“It changed my view on what’s really important. I’ve seen how the world treats a young girl that’s tryna achieve greatness. The cheers and boos aren’t what any of this is about. It’s really all about art, touching my Gs and the world…”
