Neymar’s red card came after he punched the ball into the net from close range, resulting in the goal being disallowed. The home crowd expressed frustration as Neymar received his second booking.
To make matters worse for Santos, Artur Guimaras scored the winning goal for Botafogo in the closing minutes of the game. As a result, Santos now find themselves in 18th place after 11 fixtures.
The player has been plagued with injuries, causing him to miss seven games and has yet to make an impact in terms of goals or assists for the team. With this suspension, his playing time will be further limited.
