The Presidency has refuted claims that Senator George Akume has been replaced as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, issued a terse statement on Saturday night, dismissing the reports as fake news.
“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the statement read.
Onanuga further clarified that President Tinubu, who is currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments, contrary to online speculation.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it,” he added.
The Presidency urged Nigerians to ignore the rumour and remain cautious of misinformation.
