Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to his predecessor and political mentor, Usman Ododo, declaring that he will never betray the former governor who played a pivotal role in his rise to power.
Ododo made this known during his courtesy visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at the APC headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
“Any river that forgets its source will soon dry up,” Ododo said. “My boss, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, is like a father to me. I was not born with a silver spoon. Where he picked me from and how God used him to elevate me remain fresh in my memory. I will never forget where I came from.”
The governor emphasized that his loyalty to Bello remains firm and non-negotiable.
“I will not and cannot betray him,” Ododo stressed. “When you see a child angry with his father, such a child is no longer truly one. I’m not that kind of person.”
He further urged political associates and supporters to help resolve any perceived misunderstandings between him and his mentor.
“If he gets angry with me as a father, please help me make peace with him. He remains my leader, and I will never betray him, no matter what,” Ododo assured.
The statement comes amid public speculation about the relationship between the two political allies following recent developments in Kogi State politics.
