June 12: Take It Back movement announces venue for nationwide protests

#EndBadGovernanceProtest: Protesters take over Abuja stadium

The Take It Back Movement just declared it will flood streets all over Nigeria on June 12 for nationwide protests.

Activists say they want the protest to blast a warning horn about soaring hardship, spiking violence, and the steady creep of official silence on peoples complaints.

Plans are already fixed for more than twenty towns, stretching from the Plateau all the way down to the Niger Delta.

Organisers list Eagle Square in Abuja, then four Lagos pay-points-Badagry, Maryland, Agbara, and Toll Gate-plus busy junctions in Akure, Benin, Warri, Ibadan, Yola, Osogbo, and even Maiduguri.

Crowds are expected to start trickling in by 7:00 or 8:00 a.m., depending on the traffic and the mood on the ground.

June 12 was picked, the group says, because the date is already etched into Nigerian memory as a moment when the idea of fair government first wheeled into view.

Activists claim that since Bola Tinubu took office, more than 10,000 lives have been lost to banditry, terrorism, and street-level brutality-a figure they lift from recent human rights tracker reports.

They argue that the statistics paint a picture of a ruling party that has not kept its simple promise to guard the well-being of ordinary citizens.

The report paints a worrying picture from places like Benue and Plateau, where whole communities have been uprooted by a string of bloody assaults. In several instances, tens of families packed what they could carry and vanished in a single night.

Apart from insecurity, the movement accused the government of shutting down free speech and silencing those who speak out.

It said critics are being targeted and opposition voices are being pushed out of public space.

Organisers of the protest urged law enforcement agencies to allow the demonstrations to proceed peacefully and to protect citizens exercising their right to protest.

They warned against any attempt to intimidate or harm participants, insisting that the Constitution gives all Nigerians the freedom to speak out and demand better governance.

The Take It Back Movement is calling on Nigerians to use the protest to make their voices heard and to push for changes they believe are necessary for the country’s future.
