Spanish football giants Atletico Madrid have reached a transfer agreement with Brazilian club Botafogo for Thiago Almada, a 2022 FIFA World Cup winner with Argentina.
The La Liga club confirmed the deal on Tuesday, noting that the finalization is pending a medical examination and the signing of the contract.
“Our club and the Brazilian side have reached an agreement, pending confirmation once the player passes the required medical examination and signs the contract,” Atletico Madrid posted on social media.
Who Is Thiago Almada?
Thiago Almada, 24, is a right-footed attacking midfielder known for his pace, creativity, and flair. He came into the spotlight after being part of Argentina’s squad that won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, earning 10 international caps to date.
Almada made his professional debut in 2018 at the age of 17 for Vélez Sarsfield in Argentina and later moved to MLS side Atlanta United in 2022. He was named MLS Rookie of the Year after a standout debut season.
