Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has just made history by becoming the first African female artist to surpass 5 million followers on global streaming platform Spotify.

Known for her hit song “Rush”, the Mavin Records singer has continued to blaze a trail in the Afrobeats scene with an ever-growing international fanbase.

While Ayra now holds the record for most followers by an African female artist, she still ranks second to fellow Nigerian star Tems in terms of total streams on the platform. Ayra boasts a staggering 2.7 billion streams across all credits, while Tems leads with 3.8 billion.

Ayra Starr’s most streamed track on Spotify is “Santa”, which has amassed over 707 million streams, while her biggest solo hit “Rush” has garnered over 474 million streams and continues to perform strongly.

This latest achievement marks yet another major milestone for the Gen Z superstar, proving that she’s not only here to stay—but to lead.
