Amid swirling rumours of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged critical health scare, his former digital media aide, Bashir Ahmad, has stepped forward to set the record straight.
Ahmad, who served as Special Assistant on Digital Media during Buhari’s presidency, released a statement on Thursday addressing growing speculation that the ex-leader had been rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to a life-threatening condition.
“It is true that former President Buhari is unwell and is currently receiving medical attention,” Ahmad confirmed.
However, he strongly refuted claims that the 81-year-old former leader is in critical condition or on life support, calling such reports “exaggerated.”
“He is stable and responding well to treatment, and we are optimistic about his full recovery,” the statement added.
Bashir Ahmad also expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of prayers and concern from Nigerians and Buhari’s supporters across the globe.
“We appreciate the outpouring of prayers and goodwill… We continue to pray for his complete and speedy recovery.”
The clarification comes amid a flood of social media posts and blogs speculating about Buhari’s health status, some even falsely reporting that he had been moved to the ICU.
