Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed that he may not be starting a family anytime soon — and his demanding touring schedule is a major reason why.
In a candid interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra in London, the 34-year-old Afrobeats icon explained that while he does desire to have a family, his current lifestyle makes it nearly impossible.
“Yeah, but I don’t want to start that on the road. I’m not planning on quitting tours anytime soon, so I don’t know where to now put that [starting a family]; find a middle ground,” Burna Boy said, responding to a question about settling down.
The “Last Last” crooner added that his relentless career pace has kept him constantly moving, often without any time for rest or reflection.
“I haven’t gone on a holiday since the beginning of my music career,” he revealed, noting that not having children yet is likely why he has never taken a proper break.
Known globally for his sold-out concerts and high-energy performances, Burna Boy continues to blaze through cities across the world. With no signs of slowing down, he admitted that finding a balance between his personal and professional life remains a significant challenge.
For now, it appears that family life will have to wait — as Burna Boy stays committed to dominating global stages and expanding the reach of Afrobeats.
