Charli XCX and George Daniel of The 1975 are officially married.
The pop singer and the drummer exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Hackney Town Hall in London, surrounded by close friends and family, after being engaged for 19 months.
Photos of the newlyweds in their wedding outfits began circulating online on Saturday, confirming the marriage.
The London ceremony came as a surprise to many fans, as earlier reports suggested the couple were planning a lavish wedding in Sicily, Italy.
“Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there,” The Sun previously reported, hinting at a no-expense-spared event. However, the pair ultimately opted for a modest, daytime celebration instead.
Charli XCX and George began dating in 2022 after collaborating on No Rome’s Spinning in 2021. They announced their engagement in November 2023, during the making of her album Brat.
Speaking to Rolling Stone UK in 2024, Charli XCX said of their working relationship,
“We want to impress each other, and we think we’re both really good, but I’m actually such a b**ch in the studio with George. Because we’re obviously so close, you lose everything in terms of the normal studio boundaries.”
