Chris Brown and concert promoter Live Nation are facing a lawsuit from Miami-based swimwear company Breezy Swimwear, which claims the singer’s current Breezy Bowl XX tour infringes on its trademark.
The company alleges that it has held the trademark for “Breezy” since 2018 and had already used the phrase “Breezy Bowl” in branding as far back as 2023.
Attorney John Hoover, representing Breezy Swimwear, told TMZ Hip Hop: “Celebrities do not get to overwrite small-business names just because they are famous. Breezy Swimwear coined ‘Breezy Bowl’ here in Miami; we are simply asking the court to protect that home-grown brand and end the confusion.”
According to TMZ, the company has received numerous direct messages from confused fans asking if Chris Brown would be attending its “Breezy Bowl” events. Breezy Swimwear, which promotes itself as a brand built around “female empowerment,” claims that any perceived affiliation with Brown could damage its image. CEO Kris Izquierdo shared the TMZ report on Instagram Wednesday afternoon.
Chris Brown and Live Nation have yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit.
The Breezy Bowl XX tour, announced in March, marks the 20th anniversary of Brown’s debut album.
“TEAM BREEZY !!!!!TEAM BREEZY!!!TEAM BREEZY!!!!!BREEZY BOWL 20th anniversary TOUR!!!!!!!!!! CELEBRATING 20 years of CB,” Brown wrote in an Instagram post quoted by Billboard. “So excited to be able to share this moment with the world and my amazing fans. I CANT WAIT TO SEE ALL YALLS BEAUTIFUL FACES. IMA TAKE YALL THREW THESE ERAS BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY GIVE YALL MY HEART AND SOUL.”
The tour features support from artists Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller. Brown is set to kick off the North American leg of the tour in Miami on Wednesday night at loanDepot Park, followed by an afterparty at LIV Nightclub
