Actor Columbus Short has obtained a temporary restraining order against his wife, Aida Abramyan, following a disturbing domestic incident that reportedly involved physical violence and the couple’s 10-week-old puppy.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the former Scandal star claimed the confrontation took place on Monday, July 7, when Aida allegedly became aggressive toward their young dog. Short stated that after witnessing her rough up the puppy, he confronted her, prompting a violent reaction.
Short alleged that Aida struck him in the face multiple times, leaving him with a bloody cut above his eye. He said a concerned neighbor, alarmed by Aida’s screaming, called the police. Upon arrival, officers reportedly observed injuries and bruises on Short and arrested Aida on the spot.
This incident was not the first of its kind, according to Short. He revealed that when he brought the dog home on June 21, Aida became upset after the puppy urinated inside the house. In a moment of rage, she allegedly began kicking the dog. When Short tried to de-escalate the situation, he claims she hit him with a glass trophy.
In the restraining order request, Short has asked the court to order Aida to stay at least 100 yards away from him and their two children. He is also reportedly seeking to have her removed from their family home.
The case is currently under review, and a court hearing is expected in the coming weeks to determine whether the protective order will be extended.
