APC Chieftain Eze Chukwuemeka Slams Wike Over “False” Claims in TV Interview

Wike Accuses Enemies of Using Governor Sim Fubara Against Him

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over what he described as falsehoods made during a recent appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Wike had claimed during the interview that he came from a wealthy family, drove his own car to school, and had a background that differed significantly from his former political mentor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

He also alleged that Dame Judith Amaechi, wife of the former Minister of Transportation, received ₦4 million monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to train Rivers women, and vowed to resign if a forensic audit of the NDDC failed to indict her.

Eze: “Wike’s Story Is a Fabrication”

In a statement released over the weekend, Chief Eze, a known ally of Amaechi, refuted Wike’s claims and accused him of fabricating a false narrative to elevate his image while disparaging those who contributed to his rise in politics.

“Wike was merely an errand boy to Amaechi but has now denied everyone who helped lift him out of abject poverty,” Eze stated.

He further alleged that Wike’s father disowned him and that a friend’s father had paid his school fees, contradicting the image of affluence Wike portrayed in the interview.

“Trying to claim how rich his father was, when poverty that radiated his family was as strong as the direct ray of sun, is denying his background,” Eze declared.

On Amaechi’s Wife and the Judiciary

Eze also defended Dame Judith Amaechi, challenging Wike’s allegations of NDDC misappropriation and questioned the credibility of Wike’s own wife, a sitting judge.

“Sleeping daily in the same room with a character like Wike will definitely affect her sense of judgement in the delivery of justice,” he claimed.

“Amaechi’s Biggest Political Mistake Was Trusting Wike”

Eze did not hold back on his criticism of Wike’s tenure as Governor of Rivers State, asserting that Wike dismantled several progressive policies and initiatives set up by the Amaechi administration, especially in agriculture and education.

“The agricultural setup that would have tackled Nigeria’s food insecurity was destroyed, as was the educational scholarship scheme aimed at building human capital in Rivers State,” Eze stated.

He concluded that one of Amaechi’s greatest political missteps was elevating Wike to key positions, including Local Government Chairman, Chief of Staff, and Minister under the Jonathan administration.
