Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has responded to growing fan concerns over his pattern of signing players from London rivals Chelsea, offering a clear explanation for his transfer choices.

Following the club’s recent acquisition of winger Noni Madueke—marking the eighth Chelsea player to make the switch to Arsenal under Arteta—some Gunners supporters expressed frustration, particularly in the wake of Raheem Sterling’s underwhelming spell after joining from the Blues.

But speaking to reporters, Arteta stood by his recruitment strategy:
“Probably because they have some great players, and a lot of players,” he said, stressing that Arsenal’s decisions are not based on rivalries, but on talent.

“We try to focus on the players we want to sign regardless of the club.”

Addressing Madueke’s arrival specifically, the manager expressed his enthusiasm:
“With Noni, very excited. He needs a break now but he will be with us soon showing what he is going to bring to the team.”

Madueke, an England international, follows a growing list of players to swap Stamford Bridge for the Emirates as Arteta continues shaping his squad ahead of the new campaign.
