The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe as its new National Chairman during the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
In his acceptance speech, Nentawe pledged to unite all organs and participants of the ruling party across Nigeria.
“I pledge without hesitation that I will work with everybody in the party. I will expand the party with you,” said Nentawe.
The appointment came after Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who also leads the Progressive Governors’ Forum, proposed the zoning of the chairmanship to the North Central region. He subsequently nominated Nentawe, a motion that was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
Prof. Nentawe, who hails from Plateau State in Nigeria’s North Central Zone, was the APC’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections.
He now succeeds Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned as APC National Chairman on June 27, 2025.
