Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has made a surprising revelation—despite his global fame and jet-setting lifestyle, he has never truly taken a vacation.
In a recent interview that took a personal turn, the Twice As Tall hitmaker was asked about how he unwinds from the pressures of fame and constant touring. Burna’s response caught many off guard.
“I don’t know. I’ve never been on a vacation,” he said candidly.
When the host joked, “I want to see your toes, bro—not in a weird way, but you know…” referencing stereotypical vacation images of sandy feet and ocean views, Burna laughed and replied:
“My toes are nice, you know.”
While many fans might imagine the Grammy-winning artist soaking up the sun on a tropical island or sipping cocktails on a yacht, Burna revealed that his idea of relaxation is far more grounded.
“Only in Lagos, when I’m home,” he shared, noting that being in Nigeria is the closest he comes to resting.
He also mentioned a past trip to Jamaica but clarified that even that didn’t feel like a holiday.
“I went to Jamaica once. But that’s home to me too—so I can’t really count that.”
Despite performing on world stages, attending high-profile events, and traveling extensively, Burna Boy seems to carry the weight of hustle everywhere he goes—rarely pausing to fully disconnect.
“You just keep moving,” the interviewer said.
“I have to,” Burna replied.
For one of Africa’s biggest music exports, relaxation isn’t about beaches or luxury escapes—it’s about staying grounded, close to home, and maybe, one day, learning what it truly means to slow down.
