Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode, famously known for her role as “Toyo Baby” in Jenifa’s Diary, has voiced deep concern over the increasing level of sexual activity among Nigerian teenagers.
The 30-year-old actress took to Instagram to express her heartbreak and disbelief at the things she hears from young people regarding their sexual experiences, warning that the situation is far more serious than many realize.
In a candid and emotional post shared Friday night, Olayode described sex as a spiritual act, not merely a source of pleasure, and emphasized that it should be reserved for married couples. She expressed worry about the normalization of early sexual experimentation and called on parents and guardians to become more intentional about how children are raised.
“What is your body count? 😳😳 The things I hear these days especially from teenagers makes me speechless and breaks my heart,” she wrote.
“Whilst some people would say, ‘enjoy your life while you’re young, make all the mistakes you want now,’ I don’t — that includes sexually.”
Olayode, who is known for her strong Christian beliefs and advocacy for sexual purity, said she still refrains from certain behaviors because of the deep moral foundation instilled in her by her mother. She credited her upbringing for keeping her grounded and urged others to reflect on Proverbs 22:6, which calls for raising children in the right way.
“Sex is spiritual. People only talk about the fun part. Nobody really talks about the spiritual aspect of it,” she added. “Sex and other sexual activities are for MARRIED people.”
She warned that today’s teens are being exposed to too much too soon, and that unchecked freedom can lead to destructive outcomes.
“If we are not more intentional about the way we raise our children, we would not be happy about the kind of adults this generation would produce.”
Olayode called on fellow adults to either correct or withdraw support from harmful youth trends and urged society at large to refocus on morality, discipline, and spiritual awareness.
Her post has since sparked conversations online, with many echoing her concerns and praising her for taking a bold stand on an issue that is often ignored.
