Veteran defender Kyle Walker has officially joined Burnley on a two-year deal, bringing an end to his illustrious eight-year spell at Manchester City.
The 35-year-old right-back, who spent the latter half of last season on loan at AC Milan, returns to the Premier League with newly promoted Burnley in a move that reunites him with former Spurs teammate and now-Clarets manager Scott Parker.
Walker’s departure marks the close of a silverware-laden chapter at City, where he won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League after joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017.
Sources close to Manchester City confirmed that the move not only allows Walker to seek more playing time but also offers the club significant financial relief—saving an estimated £10 million ($14 million) in salary costs.
After limited opportunities under Pep Guardiola and a solid loan stint in Serie A, Walker opted for Burnley’s ambitious project. His arrival is a major coup for the Clarets, who are aiming to blend experience with youth as they fight to stay in the top flight.
