Liverpool Seal £79 Million Deal for Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool have successfully completed a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for the transfer of French striker Hugo Ekitike in a move valued at up to £79 million.

According to The Athletic, the Premier League giants agreed to pay an initial £69 million ($93 million), with an extra £10 million to be paid in performance-based bonuses. This came after a series of intense negotiations, as Frankfurt were initially holding out for a package closer to £82 million ($110 million).

Ekitike, 23, is expected to finalize personal terms shortly, with a six-year contract already in place. The forward will undergo his medical before linking up with Arne Slot’s squad during their pre-season tour of Asia.

Liverpool turned their focus to Ekitike after a failed attempt to sign Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who is now reportedly in discussions with Saudi club Al-Hilal. Ekitike had also been a target for Newcastle earlier in the transfer window.

The Frenchman impressed during the 2024–25 season, recording 22 goals and 12 assists for Frankfurt. His arrival follows Liverpool’s recent high-profile signings of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, reinforcing the club’s attacking strength ahead of the new campaign.
