Luka Modric Set to Join AC Milan in August After Club World Cup

Luka Modric Is Staying! Luka Modric agrees contract extension with Real Madrid until 2024

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that Croatian football legend and national team captain Luka Modric will join the Italian giants from Real Madrid following the Club World Cup.

Luka Modric, who will turn 40 in September, initially signed for Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012. After a stellar career with the Spanish powerhouse, the midfield maestro announced his intention to leave at the end of his contract. Since early June, rumors of a move to Italy have circulated, and now Allegri has made it official.

Real Madrid are currently competing in the Club World Cup and will face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals on Wednesday. The tournament final is scheduled for July 13.

“He’ll arrive in August,” Allegri said during his first press conference since returning as AC Milan’s head coach.
“He’s an extraordinary and important player. It would be useless to talk more about him.”

Allegri, who previously guided Milan to the Serie A title in 2011 during his tenure from 2010 to 2014, is back at the club and preparing for the upcoming season. Milan’s first competitive fixture will be in the Italian Cup on August 17, by which time Modric is expected to have joined the squad.
