Mary J. Blige is finally addressing the headline-making $5 million lawsuit filed by her former best friend and longtime celebrity stylist, Misa Hylton.

Hylton—who now manages rapper Vado, a signee under Blige’s label—took legal action earlier this year after alleging failed tour arrangements and unmet obligations involving her client. According to Misa’s legal team, she made numerous attempts to resolve the matter privately before resorting to court.

“These women were closer than biological sisters,” Hylton’s team said in a statement. “Misa did everything to keep this private… but after months of silence and missed obligations, we had no choice but to file. This lawsuit wasn’t Plan A—it was Plan Z.”

Now, Blige has officially responded—and she’s not holding back.

In a motion filed by her attorney, Sarah M. Matz, Blige described the lawsuit as “patently frivolous” and accused Hylton of dragging her name into the matter solely for publicity and harassment.

“Vado’s claims fare no better,” Matz stated. “Blige is not a party to Vado’s recording agreement, nor has any other basis been pled against her, making it clear she was included solely for purposes of harassment.”

Blige is not only seeking to have the case dismissed, but her legal team has also hinted at a potential countersuit.

As of now, Misa Hylton’s team has not issued a response to Mary’s legal filing.
