Former Miss Nigeria 2013, Ezinne Akudo, has publicly denied long-standing rumours suggesting she was once married to Nigerian footballer Emmanuel Emenike.
In a recent interview, the beauty queen addressed the speculation that has trailed her for years, stating clearly that not only has she never been married, but she has also never met Emenike.
“I’ve actually never addressed that,” she said. “But I’ve never been married.”
Reacting to the interviewer’s visible shock, she added:
“No, you’re joking. That’s why I said this answer will shock you. The person in question, I have never met in my life. I’ve seen him because I attended his wedding — his wife was someone I knew.”
The rumour, which resurfaces online every few years, falsely claims that Emenike divorced a former Miss Nigeria before marrying his current wife.
Ezinne clarified that she has no connection to that narrative and never thought it would gain so much traction.
“It’s gone on for like years now… The first time the story came out, I thought it was a joke. But then it kept popping up. Every few years.”
She admitted that she initially chose not to address the rumour, assuming it would die down naturally. However, the internet had other plans.
“I never knew that the story would stick the way it did. If you Google it, it’s there — like some confirmed truth. But I’ve never been married, never been divorced, and I’ve never met the person in question.”
Ezinne closed her statement with a sentiment many Nigerians will find familiar:
“I fear who no fear media.”
With this revelation, Akudo sets the record straight and puts to rest one of the most persistent rumours surrounding her public image.
