Veteran Nigerian comedian and actor Richard Ayodeji Makun, popularly known as AY Makun, has addressed the perception that age diminishes relevance in the entertainment industry.
In a recent Instagram post, AY Makun responded to critics and naysayers who suggest that growing older means stepping away from the spotlight. The award-winning entertainer dismissed the idea, declaring that he remains a key player in the entertainment scene — and he has no plans of fading out.
“They said the spotlight dims with age, I guess mine forgot the memo. Call it grace,” he wrote.
The comedian, known for his successful AY Live shows, hit films, and influential presence on and off screen, credited his longevity to divine grace and a consistent commitment to his craft.
He stressed that his career is far from over, and he remains focused on entertaining audiences across generations, proving that relevance can transcend time when matched with talent, resilience, and purpose.
AY’s post has since drawn praise from fans and colleagues alike, many applauding his legacy and ongoing contributions to comedy and Nollywood.
