Popular Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has opened up about the real reason behind her recent hiatus from acting — and it has nothing to do with burnout or controversy.
In a candid revelation, Nkechi Blessing shared that she took a step back from movie roles after an anonymous person began sending her ₦1 million every week, simply because she wasn’t earning enough from acting at the time.
According to the actress, the unexpected financial support gave her the freedom to reassess her career and personal life without the pressure of constantly being on set.
“Movie roles weren’t paying well enough,” she explained. “Then this person just started crediting me ₦1 million every week. No strings attached. Just support.”
While she didn’t disclose the identity of her benefactor, Nkechi emphasized that the gesture came at a time when she was struggling to balance the demands of Nollywood with her financial goals.
Her confession has stirred reactions online, with many praising her honesty and others speculating about the mystery supporter’s identity.
Nkechi has since hinted at returning to the big screen, but on her own terms.
“I love acting, but I also now understand the importance of walking away when the pay doesn’t match the pressure,” she added.
