Four Super Falcons stars — Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie, and Chiamaka Nnadozie — have been named in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Best XI, following their outstanding performances in Morocco.
The Technical Study Group (TSG) of the tournament released the list after the competition concluded.
Chiamaka Nnadozie – Best Goalkeeper
Super Falcons’ number one, Chiamaka Nnadozie, emerged as the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament. The Paris FC shot-stopper kept four clean sheets and conceded only two goals, both from open play, in the final clash against hosts Morocco.
Michelle Alozie – Best Right-Back
Michelle Alozie, who plays for Houston Dash, was named the Best Right-Back at WAFCON 2024. Her consistency and defensive awareness stood out as she featured in five of Nigeria’s six matches.
Esther Okoronkwo – Creative Spark
Esther Okoronkwo, who plays for AFC Toronto, was praised for her electrifying pace and trickery on the wings. She delivered two goals and six assists in six games and clinched two Woman of the Match awards.
Rasheedat Ajibade – Most Valuable Player
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the tournament. The 24-year-old led from the front with one goal and two assists, and was named Woman of the Match three times.
