Veteran Nigerian actor and comedian Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has opened up about a past relationship that ended due to financial demands he couldn’t meet at the time.
In a candid interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the 61-year-old revealed that a woman he once intended to marry broke up with him because he didn’t own two cars.
“The woman I wanted to marry insisted I had two cars first before anything. I had to end the relationship,” Saka said.
Despite already being a well-known face in the entertainment industry, particularly after his iconic “I don port o” MTN commercial in 2013, the actor said her demand was simply unrealistic.
“I was already popular when this lady said she couldn’t marry me unless I had two cars. I wasn’t even thinking of one, talk less of two,” he added.
“Marrying My Wife Was the Best Decision Ever”
Saka eventually moved on and tied the knot with Olaide Oyetoro, whom he described as “the best decision ever.”
“I got married at 40. The only new thing about me now is that I pay school fees with grey hair. But I’m grateful. Marrying my wife is the best decision ever.”
The couple has been married for over 20 years and is blessed with three children—two sons and a daughter.
Despite the pressures and temptations that come with fame, Saka said he has remained faithful to his wife, noting that he’s never had an extramarital affair.
“I’ve never had an extramarital affair. I don’t have it in me to chase women around. Even before I got married, I was not promiscuous.”
The Story Behind His Bald Look
Saka also shared the origin of his signature bald look, explaining that it started back in university.
“I shaved my head for a role in school and the hair never grew again. That’s how I’ve looked ever since.”
A Multifaceted Career
In addition to his work as a comic actor, Saka is also a lecturer at the Lagos State University of Education. He has featured in numerous Yoruba and English-language films and remains one of the most respected figures in Nigerian theatre and education.
