Ex-Kogi governor Yahaya Bello to appear in court today over alleged N110bn fraud

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has quietly tied the knot with a fourth wife, Hiqma Yahaya-Bello, in a low-key Islamic ceremony held in Abuja.

The private wedding, which took place on Saturday in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, was reportedly attended only by close family and trusted associates.

Third Wife Hafiza Confirms Union on Instagram

News of the wedding was officially confirmed by Bello’s third wife, Hafiza Yahaya-Bello, who posted a welcoming message for the new bride via Instagram.

“Alhamdulillah, our family just got a little bigger and more loving! A warm welcome to our new family member, Mrs. Hiqma Yahaya Bello!
May Allah bless our union and fill our home with love, peace, and Barakah. Amin,” she wrote.

Hiqma now joins a prominent household already consisting of:

  • Amina Oyiza (first wife)

  • Rasheedat Bello (second wife)

  • Hafiza Bello (third wife), who was the most visible during his time in office.

Yahaya Bello: From Governor to Controversy

Yahaya Bello served as Governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024. His tenure ended amid ongoing controversy, as he currently faces legal prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The former governor is being charged with money laundering and financial misconduct involving N80.2 billion. He has denied all allegations and remains in the spotlight as legal proceedings continue.
