Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has set social media buzzing after posting a topless photo on Instagram, just days after inking a major global management deal with Roc Nation.
In the photo shared on Wednesday, the 23-year-old hitmaker wore only jean bum shorts, covering her chest with her arms, while her new track Hot Body played in the background. She captioned it, “Body be!!! Look.”
The post drew a wave of mixed reactions.
One fan asked, “Is this part of the new contract?” Another commented, “You don’t have to be naked for us to stream your songs… nah pant Tems dey wear, she no naked.” Some lamented, “We miss the old Ayra… this new seems forced and wannabe.”
The risqué post came shortly after news broke that Ayra had signed with Roc Nation, the entertainment powerhouse founded by Jay-Z, to boost her presence in the U.S. and European markets. She remains signed to Mavin Records and Universal Music Group.
Ayra Starr rose to fame in 2021 with Away and has since scored global hits like Bloody Samaritan and Rush—the latter earning her a Grammy nomination in 2024. She has toured with Coldplay, collaborated with Chris Brown, and amassed over three billion streams worldwide.
