Arsenal confirm signing of Eberechi Eze on long-term deal

Arsenal have announced the signing of England international Eberechi Eze on a long-term contract, completing a return to north London for the 27-year-old midfielder.

Eze began his career in Arsenal’s academy before leaving for Queens Park Rangers in 2016. He broke through during the 2019/20 season, earning QPR’s Player of the Year award before sealing a move to Crystal Palace in 2020.

At Selhurst Park, he became a fan favourite, making over 150 appearances and playing a pivotal role in Palace’s FA Cup success earlier this year, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Manchester City.

Arsenal Sporting Director Andrea Berta described the signing as a major coup: “Eberechi is a creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality – also a big-game player, with his experience at international level underlining his quality and character. We are very confident he will be an important addition as we continue to build for success.”

Manager Mikel Arteta also welcomed Eze, praising his versatility and mindset. “He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game. His journey, mentality and ambition are exactly what we want in our team.”

Eze, who has 11 England caps and featured in the Euro 2024 squad, will wear Arsenal’s iconic No. 10 shirt. He is expected to join up with his new teammates after this weekend’s Premier League clash against Leeds United, subject to regulatory approval.
