Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly stormed the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday morning to arrest youths suspected of engaging in internet fraud.
According to reports, the operation took place during a Wet & Rave Splash Extravaganza party at the OOPL Rounda fun spot. A viral video from the scene captured the moment several youths fled in panic during the night raid.
The EFCC operatives allegedly apprehended multiple suspects and seized “more than 20 luxury cars and other valuable items.” Sources indicated that the raid was carried out by officials from the commission’s Lagos Directorate.
The Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident but did not go into detail. He said, “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know.”
When contacted, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that he would verify the situation and provide feedback to the correspondent.
This latest raid follows another EFCC operation last Wednesday, in which operatives from the Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested a suspected internet fraudster along with 55 others at K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro, Ogun State. The agency said the operation was based on credible intelligence about the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.
Recovered items from that earlier raid included two locally-made pistols, six luxury cars, 89 mobile phones, laptops, and various incriminating documents.
