Preparations are in full swing as the Adeleke family begins to gather in Miami, United States, ahead of the much-anticipated white wedding between Afrobeats superstar Davido and Chioma Rowland.
On Tuesday, Adewale Adeleke, Davido’s elder brother, shared photos and videos on his Instagram Stories, revealing that he had arrived in Miami with his wife, children, and niece Hailey Adeleke — the daughter Davido shares with his former partner, Amanda.
The high-profile wedding is scheduled to take place this weekend in Miami, following their lavish traditional wedding ceremony in Lagos in June. That event was attended by top Nigerian politicians, celebrities, and business moguls, cementing the union as one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year.
Davido’s White Wedding Confirmed for August
Davido, who shares twins with Chioma, had earlier revealed during an interview on The Breakfast Club in April that the white wedding would be a private affair but one to remember.
The ceremony in Miami marks the second phase of the couple’s celebration, bringing family and close friends together for a more intimate event.
Governor Ademola Adeleke Also in the US
Osun State Governor and Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, also traveled to the United States recently to attend the wedding. His absence from recent public engagements in Osun sparked speculation, prompting a clarification from his spokesperson.
In a statement released Tuesday, Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s media aide, said:
“Governor Adeleke left Nigeria for the United States via the family’s private jet a few days ago for the wedding of the global music icon, his beloved nephew, David Adeleke.”
Rasheed added that this was Governor Adeleke’s first personal trip abroad since assuming office in November 2022 and that he remains in close contact with his deputy, Kola Adewusi, who is managing state affairs during his absence.
Political Backlash from Osun APC
Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the governor’s unannounced absence.
In a statement by APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi, the party questioned whether the governor had officially handed over authority to his deputy before embarking on the trip.
Despite the political concerns, the excitement in Miami is building as close friends, family members, and associates continue to arrive for what promises to be a luxurious, star-studded celebration.
