AS Monaco midfielder Paul Pogba has suggested he has reconciled with his brother Mathias, despite Mathias’ involvement in an extortion plot against him.
Mathias Pogba was handed a three-year jail sentence—two of which were suspended—after being convicted of attempting to extort the former Manchester United and Juventus star. However, nine months after the verdict, Paul seems to have buried the hatchet, sharing an Instagram photo of himself, Mathias, and their brother Florentin together.
The siblings appeared cheerful in the post, with Pogba writing: “Love live my brothers”.
The post has stirred mixed reactions among fans, with some questioning Paul’s decision to publicly reconcile, noting that Mathias had once attempted to damage his career. Still, it appears the brothers have managed to move past the bitter incident.
This development comes less than two years after Pogba admitted he had considered retiring from football due to the extortion saga. Mathias, who avoided serving time in prison, is currently completing one year under electronic monitoring and was fined ÂŁ16,500. Meanwhile, five other men involved were found guilty of extortion and related crimes, receiving sentences ranging from four to eight years.
