The Basadi in Music Awards 2025 once again spotlighted trailblazing women in the music and entertainment industry, and one of the night’s most emotional and inspiring moments came from multi-talented presenter, radio host, and writer Relebogile Mabotja, who walked away with the TV Producer of the Year award.
Held at the Joburg Theatre on August 1 and 2 under the powerful theme “The Symphony of Harmony,” the fourth edition of the awards celebrated women shaping the narrative of South African music and media.
Relebogile’s recognition came for her outstanding work on Tyla’s Homecoming Concert streamed on Showmax. In a heartfelt message, she described the honour as a deeply personal milestone.
“To say I’m proud of myself is a small understatement,” she wrote. “This may have been for one show but it feels like it’s for all the hard work in my entire career.”
Reflecting on her journey, she revealed she began working behind the scenes at just 18, transitioning from the theatre stage to production as a young assistant.
“It has been a very long and tough journey and I am overjoyed that it’s harvest season.”
Relebogile dedicated her win to women in the industry and encouraged more to carve out their own spaces.
“May such moments open even more doors for more women at the table and even more to build their own. Thank you @BasadiAwards for this platform. Thank you for seeing us. Thank you for seeing me.”
The award wasn’t the only highlight—her red carpet look turned heads too. Relebogile stunned in a breathtaking gown inspired by “Mother Earth,” a visual ode to the elements of nature and the planet’s vastness.
“We took inspo from the Earth from space at night… Thank you @tomircreations for making me so gorgeous!!”
Ending her celebration, she expressed gratitude to her supporters:
“Thank you for all of the votes & the support! Beyond grateful for the honour!”
